The first session is about getting to know each other. I will ask about your background, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to achieve. You can ask me anything about my approach, my experience, or how therapy works. There is no pressure to dive into anything difficult right away. The first step is simply building a connection.
Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. Play therapy sessions for children are 45 to 50 minutes. We meet weekly in most cases, though we can adjust the frequency based on your needs.
Please contact me directly to discuss current insurance options and fees. I can also provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows it.
Yes. I offer telehealth sessions for clients located anywhere in Oregon. In-person sessions are available at my office in King City, OR 97224.
If you are struggling with something and your usual coping strategies are not working, therapy can help. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek therapy to better understand themselves, improve their relationships, or develop tools for handling stress and anxiety.
Yes. What we discuss in therapy is confidential, with very limited exceptions required by law, such as imminent danger to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult. I will explain these boundaries fully at the beginning of our work together.
The terms are often used interchangeably. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, which means I hold a master's degree in mental health counseling and I am working toward full licensure under the supervision of Tony Lai, LPC, MA. I am trained to provide the same evidence-based treatments as a fully licensed therapist.
It depends on your goals and what you are working through. Some concerns, like specific PTSD treatment with CPT, follow a structured 12-session protocol. Others benefit from longer-term work. We will regularly check in about your progress and adjust our plan as needed.
